Unlike the Blue Mosque, this lesser visited mosque offers a serene experience uncluttered by dozens of camera-clicking tourists. Spacious and simple inside with natural lighting, this 18 century mosqu...  more »

I found this mosque to be better than the Blue Mosque- it was more tranquil (not as many tourists) and convenient to the Grand Bazaar. It is interesting to watch all of the merchants come out of the B...  more »

Located in the historical peninsula at the point of transition from the Grand Bazaar and Blue Mosque at the same time. That's the side of the Bazaar and nuruosmaniye shopping street is in the open position, every day thousands of people pass through here and there through the garden. The structure of the mosque is gorgeous, it's outrageous that we, unfortunately the toilets in the garden that we can't really do more than 350 years, this history to history ... the mosque is open to foreign tourists with magnificent image procession. The wait in the queue sometimes for long periods, you should take the chance.

  • Beautiful light blue carpet for one of the most beautiful mosques in Istanbul. Worth a visit before entering the Grand Bazar
  • I love this mosque inside and out. You can always find another vantage point to view and this one is from the roof of a han near the Column of Constantine
  • The atmosphere in this Mosque was something very special for me. I do not know, whether it was because of my mood, but I definitelly touched and enchanted. Blue and clear atmosphere, you are safe in here.
  • This mosque is one of the architectural and historical buildings worth seeing as beautiful
  • This is very beautiful mosque

Where to stay in Istanbul

The bustling downtown core of old Istanbul is the popular choice among tourists wanting a short walking distance to the city's biggest attractions. Here you'll find hostel-style accommodations and reasonably priced and traditionally decorated hotels, as well as bed and breakfasts and inns with views overlooking the sea. Though often the most affordable, accommodations in the old city can be very overrun with tourists and street solicitors. If you seek a more relaxed stay, consider lodging near Taksim Square. This new, trendy neighborhood is a short 15-20 minute ride from the old city, but puts you closer to restaurants, shopping, and nightlife. Though the newer area of the city is a bit more upscale, you'll also find moderately priced hotels and some hostels. Look for luxury hotels in the western suburbs close to the airport, overlooking the banks of Bosphorus.
