Historic Areas of Istanbul, Istanbul

4.9
The four zones collectively known as Historic Areas of Istanbul contain some of the city's greatest sites, earning World Heritage status in 1985. Turkey's cultural capital, Istanbul is often considered the connection between East and West because of its strategic location between the Black Sea and the Mediterranean, and between Anatolia and the Balkans. The four areas that make up this World Heritage Site are the Archeological Park, Suleymaniye quarter, Zayrek quarter, and the zone of the ramparts--altogether they contain over 2,000 years of historic sites, including the Galata Bridge, Beyazit Tower, Hagia Sophia, and Blue Mosque, to name a few. • I used Grand Circle Travel, and got a guide who wrote a travel book for that government. He was wonderful and the trip was extremely interesting. We saw all the biblical and historic sites/ruins, as w...  more »
  • Go to the 1453 museum if you are interested in the Ottoman history, of course, blue mosque, a trip on the boat from Asia to Europe or vice versa, iskender eating at the first restaurant on the street of beyoglucaddesi. As a tourist by the grand bazar running (and not buy) If you like photography, your device suits and a walking tour through the neighborhood Balat schedule. A very old neighborhood that now more like film set used but seeing and walking is worth 100% about the characteristic and picturesque beauty. You feel there just so much stories! You have also the Catholic girls lyceum in the same district are what a beautiful building in itself. Drink tea on top of one of the hills:) with views of Istanbul itself ... istanbul is building on 7 layers and about 7 hills/mountains ... in Gulhane park (think in the European part...) If you have walked the entire park you come out on top, and kn you sit drinking tea and. Mansoor duration in proportion, but is worth it:) (bring your own sandwiches/simit, you get hungry) The large shopping centres I would all skipping. Most is the same as Europe. You will also have the same shops (unless you want) very nice and chic all but squandered. Try to shopen at the locals, and not just at the tourist spots. If you find that they are English and you hear a lot of tourists? Especially not shopping there, you're going to spend too much! Areas like Fatih (light next to Balat) is very popular with locals and tailored to the target group, religieuzere that will get you right in the streets, but also in the shops. Uhmm and Yes, eat drink, enjoy, poke around, get the taste and fall in love with this city!!! Sports! in the evening, kumpir eat in kadikoy!!! Beautiful view of weather at the foot of the sea and the lights of istanbul! taxi is pretty cheap, but consultation first though how much it is going to be about. And make a good schedule for yourself when you where. Sometimes it is wiser to the metro ... but not with the striker e.g. (spits is there between 5 and 8)
