Haci Bekir, Istanbul

#48 of 249 in Shopping in Istanbul
Known as one of the finest Turkish delight shops in Istanbul, Haci Bekir attracts locals and tourists alike with its sweet treats. Owned and operated by the same family for over 200 years, the shop boasts a long history of making delights--or "lokum," as the locals call this specialty--as well as other classic Turkish treats. Try the plain, rosehip, walnut, and pistachio varieties, and, if you like them, take home a few boxes from the shop. These locally made goods are a traditional gift to bring back from your travels, and make a yummy snack on the plane ride home. • This shop is not all that big, but it has a huge reputation as the best place to get Turkish delight, and all other kinds of Turkish sweets. We were taken here as part of our conducted "food tour" of....  more »
  • We were very exited to try this highly reviewed shop, but unfortunately we were brushed off by the staff. We went to the counter, waited our turn announced ourselves, and asked if they sell sweets...  more »
  • This nice shop is one of the oldest for türkish delights in Istanbul. The loukoums were delightful, especially the ones with pistaccios.  more »

  • its the just place that people can understand what is the Turkish delight exactly cause of the oldest and yet has the same originality in Istanbul from 18th century
  • I tried all kind of lokum all around Türkiye and I found the only place you can get the best of the best is Ali Muhiddin Hacı Bakir Lokum. Try and you will understand what I mean 😋😍
  • We always stop at Haci Bekir for a drink of the tasteful limonata or demirhindi. Refreshing on a hot day.
  • A consistently delicious shop that we've visited since I was a child- try their kaymaklı lokum
  • One of the oldest or could be the oldest bonbon shop in Istanbul. The store got this old school charm to it. And located within walking distance from the Spice Market. They have many varieties of turkish delights and chocolates. It is reasonably priced too, compared to other shops that I’ve visited. Everything tastes delicious but mu fave is the pistachio ones.
