(3.8/5 based on 70+ reviews on the web)
Known as one of the finest Turkish delight shops in Istanbul, Haci Bekir attracts locals and tourists alike with its sweet treats. Owned and operated by the same family for over 200 years, the shop boasts a long history of making delights--or "lokum," as the locals call this specialty--as well as other classic Turkish treats. Try the plain, rosehip, walnut, and pistachio varieties, and, if you like them, take home a few boxes from the shop. These locally made goods are a traditional gift to bring back from your travels, and make a yummy snack on the plane ride home. • Here is a tradition and craft. Various candy typical for Turkey available. Candy, Helva, or Turkish delight. Super suitable for gifts.

  • I know this may seem not very original but what can I say after tasting these admirable Turkish delight... My favorite classics are double pistachios. I had the chance to come during the season where they make the famous Turkish delight filled with the cream of Buffalo; absolutely amazing, incomparable sweetness and unique taste. My only regret is that they are consumed on the premises, not portable because must be refrigerated. Go there with eyes closed, critical reception or not, you will here the best Turkish delight!

  • Sales staff are aloof and indifferent, but the product more than makes up for this. You can select your own assortment of sweets or just grab the pre-packed lokum on offer. Amazing.
  • Remarkable desserts. Sitting here typing this as my wife and I eat the traditional Turkish desserts.
