Gedikpasa Hamami, Istanbul

2.6
#13 of 61 in Spas in Istanbul
Experience a traditional Turkish massage and try out steam treatments at Gedikpasa Hamami, a Turkish bath from 1475. Inside you'll find all the amenities in a classical style, as well as bath garments that resemble historical Turkish textiles. Spend some time in a sauna and steam room and then cool down in a pool. Later take time for a massage following a scrubbing, which serves to remove the dead cells from the surface of the skin. Finally, sit back and breathe the healthy air of the baths, while sipping tea in a room lined with divans. Note that the hamam has separate male and female sections. • A little bit off the tourist beat this Hamam was really nice - the old building is beautiful - all marble, wood cabins, painted tiles! The steam and sauna rooms were very relaxing and the woman who...  more »
  • It looks like it needs renovation. It's quite unhygienic (people sit naked on the wood of the sauna, the massage stones are not really clean, everybody borrows the same plastic slippers). Nobody...  more »
  • I visited the front desk at least 6 hamams before I decided on Gedikpasa. The price was reasonable and there was a local Turkish clientele. It is also very historic. The female massuse was so kind...  more »

  • My first time with “Hamam” is here. A nice girl guides me though the traditional procedure, scrub and massage. This place is authentic and real, where Turkish people are using. The price is half comparing to others. I totally recommend you to try here if you want to try the real one.
  • They can make it better and provide quality service. Cleanliness not that much, some section of the hamam smelly. Message and scrub not more than 20 min, where they charge you for 60 min service. Overall 50/50 to me
  • They make you buy your own glove, or they used a shared one. The massage area is only cleaned after each group, so you will be sharing a used massaged surface which isn't really washed. Had concerns about the cleanliness, but the ladies were very friendly and the price just 170lira for scrub foam bath and massage
  • Excellent, without any doubt. There is no bath like Turkish bath. In addition, honey and oil massage makes it super special. 90 Lira for bathing plus 40 extra for oil or honey massage by an old baba is a weird but must-have experience. I will visit again before my flight. It feels like I'm born again. Did I mention the free pick and drop facility? 😁
