  • Highly recommend to visit the Museum of Fethie, if you have purchased a historical map and visited the Kariye Museum. Pammakaristos Church was converted into a mosque in the 16th century Fethie mosque, acting. The Museum highlighted in a very small area, and it is a pity. A small number of preserved beautiful mosaics paleologovskogo period. The inspection will take no more than half an hour and travel difficult. Therefore, I advise you to join Brown.

  • This building is today the Fethiye Mosque in the Carsamba neighbourhood of Istanbul. A small part of the building is open as a museum. This is a beautiful example of Byzantine architecture and inside ...  more »
  • When it is not the first time in Istanbul, and almost all inspected, meaning to search the mosque with a dedicated area of the Orthodox culture. For admission to this museum take quite symbolic for Istanbul standards 5 lire. Unfortunately, the area is really small, and mosaics quite a bit. Even bypassing all one hundred times and detailed viewing every Pebble, it turned out that we were getting longer here. There remained a sense of mild disappointment.

  • I went in 2000 and the caretaker carefully and kindly lifted the cardboard protecting the 1600 year old floor mosaics. The church was in astonishingly horrible repair with rain falling inside, pigeons and utterly desperate conditions. In 2012, I returned and the place crowded with tourists enjoying the superbly restored building. The neighborhood is very dicey in that it is conservatively Muslim. Take care not to be too resort-eye in attire. You won't have problems but will be stared at if wearing shorts and a tank top. Highly recommended.
  • Back side of mosque is a small museum with some Byzantine mosaics. A nice walk from Kariye Museum, takes 12 minutes. And from here you can continue 12 minutes more (a downhill walk) to Orthodox Patriarchate.
  • Holy place

  • That big tower in front of that place it's making it Amazing even the place!!! Turkey's landmarks are So cool!!!!!!!
