Emirgan Park, Istanbul

4.6
#4 of 67 in Parks in Istanbul
Walk through Emirgan Park, one of the largest public parks in the city, or stop for a traditional Ottoman meal. Nestled in an urban setting, this oasis stretches over hills and among sparkling lakes. Its collection of plants includes more than 120 species, such as Himalayan cedar, Norway spruce, and Colorado white fir. Its lengthy jogging tracks and picnic tables make it a popular destination among the locals and it hosts annual international tulip festivals. Here you'll also see a traditional Ottoman house, a 19th-century wooden mansion, and a neoclassical-style restaurant. Emirgan Park is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our world travel planner, Istanbul Edition.

  • You are lucky if you get into April in Istanbul. In April in Istanbul Tulip Festival. Across the city, thousands of blooming tulips and in parks you can see the huge floral carpets. The most colorful and large carpets are creating in the Emirgan Park located on the shores of the Bosphorus. Every year you can see the new design carpets and floral compositions. In this park you can relax, drink coffee or bring food and have a picnic, here everything is arranged for this purpose. Children can have fun on perfectly arranged playground. You can also enjoy a panoramic view of the Bosphorus and make lots of beautiful pictures. In the neighborhood of Emirgan Park is a private Museum of fine arts Sakypa Sabanzhi. The Museum is housed in a beautiful building on the hill with a beautiful park.

  • In particular, is a place to go in the spring, the colorful tulip gardens and trees you can relax with the sounds of birds under even if you want to eat and you can keep the delicious drink tea. I went for breakfast on a Sunday morning, so it was a great breakfast. In short, fresh air, plenty of oxygen, plentiful food every where tulips, Bosphorus view is awesome.

  • We caught the tram to Kabatac and then a number 22 bus to Emirgan but unfortunately it seemed that the entire population of Istanbul had the same idea and the traffic was appalling so we ended up walking the last kilometre as the bus was just crawling along. The gardens themselves were excellent with amazing beds of tulips in all shapes and colours. There are a number of pavilions, streams, fountains all of which help to add interest. There are a huge number of picnic tables all of which were fully occupied - there were even a number of hammocks tied to trees! Returning to Istanbul was even worse than the journey out and we spent an exhausting and sweaty 2 hours on a bus back to Kabatac as the traffic was appalling.
