  • BEWARE. The shop owners will hang around Hagia Sophia and The Blue Mosque, asking you where you are from. If you are from England, they'll tell you a friend of them has a store in London. If you are from Colombia, they'll tell you they're brother lives in Medellin and has a restaurant there. They are extremely polite and will appear to be helpful to "lost" or tourists that want to visit museums. One of them followed us to the Blue Mosque, and was waiting at the exit to talk more with us. They are very persistent and charming, as they speak fluent English, Arabic, and Spanish (maybe more.) They convinced us to go see their shop as it was on our way to the Grand Bazaar. He told us repeatedly that there was no obligation to buy anything. Once we entered the shop they brought us down to see rugs, they gave us Turkish tea and showed us a bunch of rugs. We were never interested in buying rugs so after they finished we politely declined. They were offering rugs for 1000USD and saying they would ship worldwide. This is a huge SCAM to avoid at all costs. Don't waste your money here, especially your precious time in Istanbul.
  • Came to Istanbul with my Turkish girlfriend. She had family business to attend so I went to Hagia Sofia Museum. Met this nice gentleman who helped me to get in front of the line at Hagia Sofia (1.5 hour line) and front of line at Blue Mosque (20min line) with help of a tour guide. I did not have to pay him or the guide. I agreed to to let him take me to El Rincon to see Kilims. They showed me some and I told them that I was not interested. Then they brought some out that were somewhere between small and medium size. I don't normally buy any carpets but this one was beautiful. To make a long story short I bought one of these carpets that will make a nice addition to my home. The person who helped on the tour also helped me get information to get back onto to metro train back to Taksim square. Very nice people.
  • The one thing when we visit Turkey and don't forget to buy. It's the Turkish carpet or rug. I decided to buy in Istanbul because another carpet dealers in Cappadocia and Kusadasi are very expensive. This shop also has many kinds of carpets and rugs in different level prices depend on which qualities do you want. The prices are more lower than others. And they're also give a carpet certificate for each piece.
  • Two brothers who are dedicated to attract customers around their shops. Go tell you all kindly passes to see them without commitment and the next minute if you tell them you're not going to buy anything you miss shop with bad ways. It changes the character in a second. Incredible. Save the bad time.

  • The friendliness of your dependents is incredible. Everyone talks about a perfect Spanish. That if, do not leave there without a rug. Highly recommended. We spend so much time there even took us to a restaurant. All a discovery.
