Corlulu Ali Pasa Medresesi, Istanbul

(4.3/5 based on 440+ reviews on the web)
Take a break from the hustle and bustle of the Grand Bazaar, taste traditional Turkish tea and coffee, and meditate through the aromatic smoke of hookahs at Corlulu Ali Pasa Medresesi. Situated inside a historical building that was once a religious school and a dervish lodge, the cafe offers an authentic Turkish atmosphere. Notice the hundreds of multicolored glass lamps, walls adorned with kilims, and ornamental hookahs (or "nargile" in Turkish). The cafe's popularity with tourists and locals, as well as city cats, makes it crowded at times. It maintains the old Turkish way of relaxing, so don't be surprised if some non-traditional drinks are unavailable. Using our online itinerary creator, Istanbul attractions like Corlulu Ali Pasa Medresesi can form part of a personalized travel itinerary.

  • Madrasah was preserved as it is located in beyazit yard with a very nice cafe right now. You will find peace for a short time break let a beautiful courtyard. At least it's a good opportunity to chill out for a bit of a tea.

  • Beautiful place to share, take a coffee or you and smoking hookah or hookah. The decoration is very typical of Turkey, is a little hard to get. They do not serve alcoholic beverages but not necessary. 100% recommend it
