Inspirock Rating:
4.4/5 based on 440+ reviews on the web
Take a break from the hustle and bustle of the Grand Bazaar, taste traditional Turkish tea and coffee, and meditate through the aromatic smoke of hookahs at Corlulu Ali Pasa Medresesi. Situated inside a historical building that was once a religious school and a dervish lodge, the cafe offers an authentic Turkish atmosphere. Notice the hundreds of multicolored glass lamps, walls adorned with kilims, and ornamental hookahs (or "nargile" in Turkish). The cafe's popularity with tourists and locals, as well as city cats, makes it crowded at times. It maintains the old Turkish way of relaxing, so don't be surprised if some non-traditional drinks are unavailable. • It is located near the St. Sophia Seminary. Too inconspicuous building and is not mentioned in the guidebooks. And courtyards inside are old-school, but was a nice touch. Tourists were also feeling that the school does not.
