Corlulu Ali Pasa Medresesi, Istanbul

4.2
Take a break from the hustle and bustle of the Grand Bazaar, taste traditional Turkish tea and coffee, and meditate through the aromatic smoke of hookahs at Corlulu Ali Pasa Medresesi. Situated inside a historical building that was once a religious school and a dervish lodge, the cafe offers an authentic Turkish atmosphere. Notice the hundreds of multicolored glass lamps, walls adorned with kilims, and ornamental hookahs (or "nargile" in Turkish). The cafe's popularity with tourists and locals, as well as city cats, makes it crowded at times. It maintains the old Turkish way of relaxing, so don't be surprised if some non-traditional drinks are unavailable. • Hysterical and pleasant place. Smoke hookah in Russia every week, but this is so inserted that already pale became. Can other easier, we ordered strawberry, but departed from another hour gatherings. Liked that each in their field, someone who tea spoons coal and who the money eventually picks up. I advise everyone to this place.

  • About this place have learned from and for all the holidays went there every night. Hookah stands 25 lire, tea 2 lira, can still bring pretzels with cheese and fresh juice. The place is very colorful, friendly team, all lovers of shisha necessarily to visit

  • Yes, that transports you to another era as a very cool atmosphere that is very local everything. But what is not acceptable is that they climb the price because they know that you are a tourist. Having been in many more places and having taken that it is just as good or better. I do not understand nor never will understand is because they have to get the price if you are not local. That I call stealing.

Where to stay in Istanbul

The bustling downtown core of old Istanbul is the popular choice among tourists wanting a short walking distance to the city's biggest attractions. Here you'll find hostel-style accommodations and reasonably priced and traditionally decorated hotels, as well as bed and breakfasts and inns with views overlooking the sea. Though often the most affordable, accommodations in the old city can be very overrun with tourists and street solicitors. If you seek a more relaxed stay, consider lodging near Taksim Square. This new, trendy neighborhood is a short 15-20 minute ride from the old city, but puts you closer to restaurants, shopping, and nightlife. Though the newer area of the city is a bit more upscale, you'll also find moderately priced hotels and some hostels. Look for luxury hotels in the western suburbs close to the airport, overlooking the banks of Bosphorus.
