Burmali Mescit Camii, Istanbul

4.3
The Mosque with the Spiral Minaret (Turkish: Burmalı Mescit Camii or Burmalı Minare Camii) is a 16th-century Ottoman mosque in Şarachane park, Fatih district, Istanbul, Turkey.

Built in 1550 on behalf of Emin Nuretti Efendi, qadi 'asker of Egypt, it is named for its spiraling (burmalı) brick minaret, a copy of a Seljuq design that is unique in Istanbul. The mosque is not domed, but has a pitched porch, which rests on four reused Byzantine Corinthian stone columns. Unusually, the entrance is off-center behind a column. The mosque's interior is undistinguished.

  • There were descriptions translated into several languages. However, the mosque itself was closed. It seems to be doing construction very much, and it was surrounded because it was like a barricade.

  • It is a long time closed for refurbishment, this small but cute mosque right on the opposite side of the İstanbul metropolitan municipality building.

  • Not a typical construction for Istanbul. Made of red brick. Has a beautiful twisted minaret. These were built by the Seljuks. In Istanbul we no longer saw. The mosque itself is decorated with beautiful columns.

  • Burmali Masjid Mosque is the mosque located in Vefa district of Istanbul. It was built in 1540 by Emin Nureddin Osman, the Egyptian woman of the Ottoman Empire, according to the book at the entrance to the mosque. It is known as "Burmese" because of its fluted appearance of its minaret. The mosque is located in the Vefa district of Fatih, Istanbul. It is located in front of the courtyard wall of Shehzade Mosque and is located in the Sarachane promenade park. The mosque was built in 1540 by Egyptian woman Emin Nureddin Osman. Before the Republic, it was also a Naqshi association where chanting and religious conversations were held. The mosque, which was neglected over time, was used as a carpenter's workshop for a period. The mosque, which was not used due to its devastation in the 1930s, was restored and reopened to worship in 1955. On the left side of the mosque is the tomb of Emin Nureddin Osman, who died in 1553-1554. During the construction of Atatürk Boulevard in the 1940s, many of the surrounding historical buildings were destroyed, but the Burmese Masjid Mosque was not demolished. Due to the collapse of the surrounding buildings, the mosque remains a single structure among the trees in the Sarachane travel park today.
