With an appealing natural setting and peaceful atmosphere, Halki Theological School remains the area's hub of culture, preserving a thousand years of history and religious heritage. Part of a monastery complex founded nearly ten centuries before the opening of the school, this educational institution functioned between 1844 and 1971, when Turkish government banned private colleges. Although still officially closed, the seminary hosts regular conferences attended by its notable alumni, many of which serve as bishops, scholars, and patriarchs around the world. The school's library includes over 100,000 books, manuscripts, and journals. Halki Theological School Reviews
After a short walk among the pine trees, you find information about the school. If you wish, you can rent a bicycle, but I suggest you do the walk. Architecturally it's almost 200 years of school I was amazed and in 1971 unfortunately closed down. After school, sit in the garden, you can enjoy unique views.
Και μπορείς να διαλέξεις αν θέλεις να επιστρέψεις με τον... more »Very beautiful building with excellent sea views from many sides! The boat goes up the port and ascend with carts. And you can choose if you want to return the same way or walk, after a short walk, all downhill. The building is of particular sentimental value for all Orfodoxoys and especially the Greeks. Take the time and see it with comfort. Beware the benches, library, gardens, and the pictures in I.
