Tlos, Fethiye

(4.6/5 based on 500+ reviews on the web)
Now in ruins, Tlos once served as the bustling urban center of ancient Lycia. According to legend, this site was home of the hero Bellerophon. One of the city's rock tombs allegedly belongs to him and bears a relief portraying the hero riding his famous horse, Pegasus. After the Lycians, the Romans took over the city, building a stadium and an amphitheatre whose remains you can still see. You can also view monuments of Byzantine and Ottoman architecture. The site is quite large and hilly, and a thorough exploration requires a bit of hiking over uneven terrain, so be sure to bring adequate footwear. Put Tlos at the forefront of your travel plans using our Fethiye travel itinerary planner.

  • Saklıkent road just 10 minutes you can reach by the ruins of the ancient Lycian city must-see. 4000 years before considering a more enjoyable trip to do some research. The entrance fee is nominal. Very hot I would not advise you to leave at noon time in one day because there's a lot of climbing path.

  • A lovely place, just a half hour outside of Fethiye, Tlos offers you stunning views of the valley, amidst awe-inspiring ruins. And there are a few cafes nearby, where you can get friendly Turkish hosp...  more »
  • I happened to see the city in November. One in the whole city of the ancient world! This is unusual. Well remember the moment at the edge of a cliff-it's like watching from the past to the future ...

  • A place that holds diverse historical events.
  • Super view on top! Highly recommend this place!
  • Everyone should visit this place - I went from the resort of Olu Deniz but it is also accessible from Patara, kas etc. The Lycian tombs at the top of the hill are a struggle to reach but worth it.
  • Fantastic scenery very friendly people
  • Looked good from the jeep safari. Prominent position in the hillside with tombs cut into the face of the cliff.
