Rabbit Island, Bodrum City

3.4
#3 of 11 in Sightseeing in Bodrum City
Historic Walking Area Tourist Spot
Once a resort, Rabbit Island attracted a prominent Hellenistic king, who would bring his loved one to feed wild rabbits and watch the days go by. Numerous archaeological treasures have been uncovered here, including an ancient theatre from around 400 BCE, a sacred burial site, and a 13th-century tower. Walk to the island through the shallow waters or get there by cruise boat to explore nature. Although only a few creatures remain on the island, you'll be able to see the excavations and swim in the clear waters, all while taking in stunning views of the bay. Before you head to Bodrum City, plan trip itinerary details with our user-friendly Bodrum City vacation route planner, to make sure you see all that Bodrum City has to offer, including Rabbit Island.

  • Currently unavailable to reach, but normally fun to walk around
  • Beautiful and fantastic place, full of good restaurants, bar and little market , really wonderful sunset here.
  • There was a three-to-five rabbit on time. A great stay walking away from the water. But last time I was remain closed and entry chance with iron boards. Just a tiny little place, archaeological excavation anyway? This is interesting. You can watch the fish at restaurants across the island by eating.

Where to stay in Bodrum City

The expansive area of Bodrum City and its seaside coast offer much in the way of accommodations--at any price point. The city's main attraction, the castle, seems to yield budget-friendly hostels and guesthouses in the immediate area; expect dense crowds enjoying the animated nightlife here. An array of four-star hotels and resorts hug the curves of the coastline and continue farther west of the city core. If you prefer more luxurious lodging, seek out the handful of five-star resorts located slightly inland and a little bit southeast of the city core.
