Bodrum Museum of Underwater Archaeology, Bodrum City
(4.5/5 based on 1,000+ reviews on the web)
At Bodrum Museum of Underwater Archaeology, see the world's oldest known shipwreck and its treasury holding wooden logs, gems, and hippopotamus ivory. Situated inside the rooms and towers of St. Peter's Castle, the museum showcases collections of ancient artifacts retrieved from local shipwrecks, such as amphorae, coins, and Canaanite gold jewelry. Look for a solid gold scarab that belonged to the Egyptian queen Nefertiti. The battalions provide great views of the surrounding area. Many of the exhibits can be touched. There are no tour guides here, but panels, maps, models, dioramas, and videos provide necessary information. • The museum is great I advise anyone visiting Bodrum to visit it.
  • A very nice museum. not open on the lunch hours :(
  • The building alone is a stunning place to visit. The old castle on the water is beautiful and large. But the treasures inside are also fantastic and show centuries of artefacts. Definitely one of the best things to see in Bodrum. It takes a couple of hours to visit the castle and see all the exhibits.
