The Antalya Museum or Antalya Archeological Museum is one of Turkey's largest museums, located in Konyaaltı, Antalya. It includes 13 exhibition halls and an open air gallery. It covers an area of 7000m2 and 5000 works of art are exhibited. In addition a further 25,000 - 30,000 artifacts which cannot be displayed are in storage. As a museum exhibiting examples of works, which illuminate the history of the Mediterranean and Pamphylia regions in Anatolia, Antalya Museum is one of the most important of Turkey's museums. The Museum won the “European Council Special Prize” in 1988.History of the MuseumAt the end of the World War I, during the time when Antalya was under Italian military occupation, Italian archeologists started removing archeological treasures that had been found in the city center and surrounding the Italian Embassy, which they claimed to do in the name of civilization. To prevent these initiatives, Süleyman Fikri Bey, the Sultan's advisor, applied to the Antalya post of provincial governor in 1919, had himself appointed as voluntary curator of antiquities, and first established Antalya Museum to try and collect what remained in the center. The museum at first operated in the Alâeddin Mosque in 1922, then in Yivli Minare Mosque beginning from 1937, and then moved to its present building in 1972. It was closed to visitors for a wide range of modifications and restorations in 1982. It was reorganized according to modern museum concepts and opened to the public in April 1985, after the restorations and display arrangements made by the General Directorate of Ancient Objects and Museums.

  • I when I went to Antalya in the year 2016 when I visited işk times I was amazed at 6-year-old son had so much fun than I liked it so much that I went back this summer. The entrance fee is so little that is almost free. I'm having a time barbie I almost cry when I saw the same. you have or you can't get excited at the sight of toys impossible not to. That your children's old toys, technology toys be sure to learn something about the effect on the go. Leave the children in your childhood, even its scent, please go to you will understand what I mean.

  • One of the tourist attractions in Antalya, what you should know before visit it: - Ticket price is 2 liras for adults. - ‎It is a small, cozzy place. You will spend more time daydreaming that walking through the Museum. - ‎It has differents sections, each one dedicated a one subject. My favorite was Space Section. - ‎It has a great toys collection, very old and surprisingly well preserved. I highly recommend visit this place.

Where to stay in Antalya

The Mediterranean holiday spot of Antalya is abundant in places to stay. The Old Town of Kaleiçi boasts a plethora of small guesthouses and hostel offerings set in traditional Ottoman houses of stone. Often accompanied by a charming backyard pool and garden out front, these affordable accommodations are just a stone's throw from the harbor and amenities. You can find a few upscale boutique hotels here as well. If you're looking to splurge a little more, head to the suburb of Lara, just east of Antalya. Here, four- and five-star all-inclusive resorts dominate the sandy beaches.
