Red Tower, Alanya

(4.3/5 based on 400 reviews on the web)
A 13th-century architectural masterpiece and landmark, Red Tower is considered the symbol of the city of Alanya--as evidenced by its incorporation into the city's flag. Built in 1221 under the sultan's orders to protect the shipyard, the octagonal, Seljuk-style structure stands 33 m (108 ft) high and 12.5 m (41 ft) wide. The tower gets its name from the red brick used in construction, whose color remains bright and noticeable today along the coastline. Enter to see the museum housed within, which opened in 1979 and includes exhibits on the history of the tower, town, and heraldry. • I advise you to visit this tower. Inside on the ground floor the layout of the entire fortress. So I wonder what you and pritragivaesh'sja to what was built so long ago. Climb the narrow stairs!

  • Must be as large as the Red Tower last floor. Because it is an octagonal structure you can see clearly out there. Don't forget your swimsuit and towel on the way. But watch out for broken glass. Visit the castle of Alanya after this bird's eye view of Alanya Red Tower and you can relax.

  • Definitely a must-see building in Alanya, but up to come out of old and not very easy access for disabled people. I would recommend that you see if you might inquire.
