Red Tower, Alanya

(400+ reviews on the web)
Military Museum
A 13th-century architectural masterpiece and landmark, Red Tower is considered the symbol of the city of Alanya--as evidenced by its incorporation into the city's flag. Built in 1221 under the sultan's orders to protect the shipyard, the octagonal, Seljuk-style structure stands 33 m (108 ft) high and 12.5 m (41 ft) wide. The tower gets its name from the red brick used in construction, whose color remains bright and noticeable today along the coastline. Enter to see the museum housed within, which opened in 1979 and includes exhibits on the history of the tower, town, and heraldry. • Once until capacity increased one has a nice view over the Lake and the Eastern Tauus. Especially worthwhile if you don't go to the Castle.

  • The perfect place for uitzichtfotos ... not expensive and at the same time you the shipyard museum visit ... during the walk you will come across a restaurant ... actually you sit in people in their garden, where you can eat delicious and dirt cheap. 10 tl for fanta.. iced tea and gozleme

  • From the port, a wonderful walk! A piece toward Hill of the city, and then to get there automatically! If you think it no longer continues, an admission House (for the old shipyard) is coming! .. necessarily pay and go through the old shipyard. It gets you out of the Red Tower. Next visit!
