Landmark Tourist Spot
Take a walk through Alanya Shipyard to enjoy picturesque coastal views and rich historical atmosphere. This ancient site was built in 1226 and is Turkey's only remaining Seljuk shipyard. Remarkably preserved, it boasts five docks, a small guardhouse, and restored stone arches. A leisurely stroll along the walkway reveals a number of archeological findings that have been put on display. Be sure to look for the inscription on the dockyard gate, featuring the emblem of Keykubat Sultan who commissioned the shipyard, decorated with rosettes. Work out when and for how long to visit Alanya Shipyard and other Alanya attractions using our handy Alanya vacation route planner.

Where to stay in Alanya

The majority of the accommodations in the historical city of Alanya feature mid-range, three- and four-star hotels. Many of these offer all-inclusive, affordable packages along the coastline, which are generally within walking distance from the amenities, discos, and restaurants (or you can use the visitor-friendly bus system, which offers stops on almost every corner). Directly above the cape lies the old town, which presents a more authentic depiction of the city's heritage. Opt to stay here if you're looking for something a little less mainstream and a little more romantic, while still moderately priced. Building heights are restricted in the old town, guaranteeing uninterrupted views of the sea.
