Inhabited for millennia, the city of Bukhara boasts a World Heritage-listed center teeming with historic mosques, madrassas, pools, and ancient ruins.
On the 25th (Fri), stroll the grounds of Bakhautdin Naqsband Mausoleum, contemplate the long history of Chasma Ayub Mausoleum, pause for some serene contemplation at Poi Kalyan Mosque, get great views at Great Minaret of the Kalon, then admire the landmark architecture of Abdulaziz-Khan Madrasah, and finally pause for some photo ops at Monument to Hodja Nasreddin. Here are some ideas for day two: admire all the interesting features of Kukeltash Madrasah, admire the landmark architecture of Nodir Devon Begi Xonaqosi, explore the ancient world of Maghak-i 'Attari Mosque, then contemplate the long history of Zindan, and finally explore the ancient world of Chor-Bakr necropolis.

Traveling by train from Samarkand to Bukhara takes 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive. Traveling from Samarkand in May, expect nights in Bukhara to be about the same, around 19°C, while days are a bit warmer, around 37°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 27th (Sun) to allow enough time to travel to Khiva.

With an illustrious history as a main stop along the Great Silk Road, Khiva boasts remarkably well-preserved cultural attractions and a beautiful historic core.
On the 27th (Sun), contemplate the long history of Tomb of Sayid Allauddin, then steep yourself in history at Alla Kuki Khan Madrasah, and then steep yourself in history at Pakhlavan Makhmud Mausoleum.

You can do a combination of flight and taxi from Bukhara to Khiva in 5.5 hours. Another option is to do a combination of train and taxi. In May, daytime highs in Khiva are 35°C, while nighttime lows are 18°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 29th (Tue) so you can travel to Tashkent.

On the 29th (Tue), make a trip to Barak-Khan Madrassah, then take in the spiritual surroundings of Teleshayakh Mosque, and then see the interesting displays at Railway Museum.
