A seaside playground in the Caribbean, Rincon was a small agricultural and fishing town until it hosted the 1968 World Surfing Championship.
On the 6th (Sun), stop by Ocean State of Mind, then kick back and relax at Sandy Beach, and then kick back and relax at Domes Beach. Here are some ideas for day two: enjoy the sand and surf at Playa Crashboat, discover the deep blue sea with a scuba or snorkeling tour, and then enjoy the sea views from Faro de Punta Higuera.

For sixty years until 2003, most of the Isla de Vieques was closed off to the public, with the US Navy using the island's beaches and surrounding waters for drills and testing of new military machinery, such as bombs.
Start off your visit on the 8th (Tue): head outdoors with Outdoor Activities, then stroll through Playa La Chiva, and then tour the pleasant surroundings at Playa Pata Prieta. On the next day, take in the exciting artwork at Siddhia Hutchinson Fine Art Gallery, then delve into the distant past at El Hombre de Puerto Ferro, then admire the landmark architecture of Puerto Ferro Lighthouse, and finally enjoy the sand and surf at La Plata Beach.

Fly from Rincon to Isla de Vieques in 4.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of car and ferry; or do a combination of car, shuttle, taxi, and ferry. With much of Culebra a nature refuge, the tropical island has been protected from overdevelopment, chain hotels, and the cruise set.
Get a sense of the local culture at Museo Historico de Culebra and Culebrita Lighthouse. Explore hidden gems such as Culebrita and Melones Beach. There's much more to do: kick back and relax at Playa Punta Soldado Beach, stroll through Culebra National Wildlife Refuge, and head off the coast to Culebra National Wildlife.
