Aptly nicknamed the Eternal City, Rome is the birthplace of the Roman Empire, one of the world's greatest civilizations ever.
Start off your visit on the 10th (Mon): look for gifts at Bartolucci and then admire the landmark architecture of Pantheon. Here are some ideas for day two: steep yourself in history at St. Peter's Basilica, browse the exhibits of Vatican Museums, and then take a stroll through Trastevere.
