The rainforest meets the sea at Manuel Antonio National Park, a small but scenic natural preserve on the west coast of Costa Rica.
Bring the kids along to MidWorld Costa Rica and Playa Biesanz. Pack the 3rd (Sat) with family-friendly diversions at Rancho Tipico Don Juan. There's more to do: relax and float downstream with a rafting and tubing tour and stop by Villa Vanilla / Rainforest Spices.

Kids will appreciate attractions like Monteverde Cloud Forest Biological Reserve and Curi Cancha Reserve. Change things up with these side-trips from Monteverde: Arenal Eco Zoo (in El Castillo) and Rio Celeste (in Tenorio Volcano National Park). And it doesn't end there: whizz through the canopy at some of the top local zipline courses and adventure parks, stop by Souvenir Rosewood, take in nature's colorful creations at Monteverde Orchid Garden, and identify plant and animal life at Reserva Bosque Nuboso Santa Elena.
