Paris of the East

Sitting on the Mediterranean coast, Beirut, the country's capital and largest city, has plenty of appeal itself, as well as offering a convenient base for exploring the country's other sights and cities.

Explore Beirut's surroundings by going to Byblos (Saint Charbel Tomb, Monastery of St. Maron Annaya, &more), Our Lady of Lebanon (in Harissa) and Jabal Moussa Biosphere Reserve (in Keserwan District). There's lots more to do: pause for some photo ops at Jeita Grotto, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Mohammad Al-Amin Mosque, shop like a local with Hamra Street, and deepen your understanding at American University of Beirut.

To see photos, more things to do, maps, and tourist information, use the Beirut vacation website.
