Islamorada, long recognized as one of the world's top spots for sport fishing, encompasses six islands in the Florida Keys.
Take a break from the city and head to Windley Key Fossil Reef Geological State Park and Pelican Cove Resort. Museum-lovers will get to explore History of Diving Museum and Florida Keys History & Discovery Center. There's still lots to do: zoom along the surf with a waterskiing or jet-skiing adventure, view the masterpieces at Old Road Gallery, see the vivid underwater world at Alligator Reef Light House, and get a taste of the local shopping with Lobster Trap Art Gift Shop and Gallery.

Newark to Islamorada is an approximately 4.5-hour flight. You can also drive; or do a combination of bus and shuttle. Traveling from Newark in January, things will get much hotter in Islamorada: highs are around 77°F and lows about 66°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 12th (Wed) early enough to drive to Key West.

Located just 140 km (90 mi) from Cuba, Key West is an island only about 6.4 km (4 mi) long and 1.6 km (1 mi) wide.
Museum-lovers will get to explore U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Ingham Maritime Museum and Key West Lighthouse and Keeper's Quarters Museum. Get some historical perspective at Key West Garden Club and Key West Historic Seaport. There's still lots to do: admire the masterpieces at Key West Museum of Art & History at the Custom House, admire the striking features of Oldest House & Garden Museum, pause for some serene contemplation at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, and see majestic marine mammals with a dolphin and whale watching tour.

Getting from Islamorada to Key West by car takes about 2 hours. Other options: take a bus. In January, daily temperatures in Key West can reach 76°F, while at night they dip to 66°F. You'll set off for Key Largo on the 15th (Sat).
