The most well-known city in the Algarve, Faro boasts a cliffside location with popular beaches and a thriving cultural scene.
Popular historic sites such as Old Town Faro and Paroquia de Sao Pedro are in your itinerary. Museum-lovers will appreciate Tavira Ciencia Viva Science Centre and Museu Municipal de Faro. Venture out of the city with trips to Igreja do Antigo Convento de Santo Antonio dos Capuchos (in Tavira), Winery Convento do Paraiso (in Silves) and Praia de Cacela Velha (in Vila Nova de Cacela). And it doesn't end there: get up close to creatures of the deep with a dolphin and whale watching tour, pause for some serene contemplation at Igreja de Sao Lourenco de Almancil, tour the pleasant surroundings at Ria Formosa, and engage your brain at Centro Ciencia Viva do Algarve.

London, UK to Faro is an approximately 6-hour flight. You can also do a combination of train and bus; or do a combination of car and ferry. In December, Faro is somewhat warmer than London - with highs of 20°C and lows of 11°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 28th (Wed) so you can drive to Lagos.

The allure of the beaches and the town's historical center draw visitors to Lagos, a coastal destination in the Barlavento region of the Algarve.
Cape Saint Vincent and Sacred Art Museum are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Popular historic sites such as Fortaleza de Sagres and Castelo de Silves are in your itinerary. Get out of town with these interesting Lagos side-trips: Praia Da Rocha (in Praia da Rocha), Albufeira (Garden Spa, Centro Historico de Albufeira, &more) and Praia do Beliche (in Sagres).
