Known its good weather, Taichung boasts an interesting set of cultural attractions, including many temples showing the development of religious architectural styles in the area and forming focal points for most tours of Taichung.
Start off your visit on the 3rd (Sun): get curious at National Museum of Natural Science and then see the interesting displays at Gen.Sun Li-Jen Residence. On the 4th (Mon), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: stop by Mark Taiwan, then contemplate the long history of Wenwu Temple, and then take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Hehuanshan National Forest Recreation Area.

Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam to Taichung is an approximately 7-hour flight. The time zone changes from Indochina Time to Taipei Standard Time, which is usually a 1 hour difference. Expect cooler weather when traveling from Ho Chi Minh City in March: highs in Taichung hover around 25°C, while lows dip to 16°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 5th (Tue) early enough to take a train to Taipei.

Situated in a basin between two mountain ranges, Taipei appeals to tourists with its blend of Asian cultures, living side by side amidst Japanese-era mansions and Taoist temples.
Kick off your visit on the 6th (Wed): take in the spiritual surroundings of Hsing Tian Kong, take an in-depth tour of National Palace Museum, and then hunt for treasures at Shilin Night Market. Keep things going the next day: visit Ximending, then don't miss a visit to Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall, then learn and have fun at Beauty Works Tokyo, and finally shop like a local with Taipei 101.

Take a train from Taichung to Taipei in 2 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. In March, daytime highs in Taipei are 25°C, while nighttime lows are 17°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 7th (Thu) early enough to travel to Alishan.

On the 8th (Fri), stop by Paper-cut Art Village, then take a peaceful walk through Ali Mountain (Alishan), and then delve into the lush surroundings at Alishan National Forest Recreation Area. On the next day, hike along Green Tunnel and then take in the pleasant sights at Fenqi Hu Old Street.

Getting from Taipei to Alishan by combination of train and taxi takes about 3.5 hours. Other options: drive; or do a combination of train, bus, and taxi.
