Mandalay

Built on a large scale by a king needing to impress and rebuild after defeat in battle, Mandalay deserves exploration.
Start off your visit on the 25th (Mon): admire the striking features of Shwenandaw Monastery, then don't miss a visit to Kuthodaw Pagoda & the World's Largest Book, then get great views at Mandalay Hill, and finally take in the spiritual surroundings of Su Taung Pyi Pagoda. Keep things going the next day: pause for some photo ops at Mahamuni Image, then take in the spiritual surroundings of Bagaya Monastery, then take in the views from U Bein Bridge, and finally steep yourself in history at Mandalay Palace.

Bagdogra, India to Mandalay is an approximately 14.5-hour flight. You can also drive. Due to the time zone difference, you'll lose 1 hour traveling from Bagdogra to Mandalay. Finish your sightseeing early on the 26th (Tue) to allow enough time to drive to Bagan.
