Jackson, officially the City of Jackson, is the capital city and largest urban center of the U.S. Start off your visit on the 8th (Thu): get a new perspective on nature at Mississippi Museum of Natural Science and then pause for some serene contemplation at St. Andrew's Cathedral. On the 9th (Fri), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: take an in-depth tour of Old Capitol Museum, then take in the history at Vicksburg National Military Park, then examine the collection at Jesse Brent Lower Mississippi River Museum and Interpretive Center, and finally steep yourself in history at Anchuca Mansion.

Fort Lauderdale to Jackson is an approximately 6-hour flight. You can also do a combination of train and flight; or drive. Due to the time zone difference, you'll gain 1 hour traveling from Fort Lauderdale to Jackson. Plan for little chillier nights when traveling from Fort Lauderdale in August since evenings lows in Jackson dip to 73°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 9th (Fri) to allow enough time to drive to Natchez.

Natchez is the county seat and only city of Adams County, Mississippi, United States. First Presbyterian Church and Windsor Ruins are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Explore hidden gems such as Natchez National Cemetery and Dunleith Historic Inn. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Natchez: Clark Creek Natural Area (in Woodville) and Grand Gulf Military Park (in Port Gibson). There's much more to do: steep yourself in history at Mount Locust Inn & Plantation, don't miss a visit to Longwood, take an in-depth tour of Natchez Museum of African American History and Culture, and take in the architecture and atmosphere at St. Mary Basilica.

You can drive from Jackson to Natchez in 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of bus and car; or do a combination of train and car. In August, plan for daily highs up to 89°F, and evening lows to 71°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 12th (Mon) to allow enough time to travel to Hattiesburg.

On the 14th (Wed), look for all kinds of wild species at Mississippi Sandhill Crane National Wildlife Refuge, then have fun and explore at Lynn Meadows Discovery Center, and then kick back and relax at Biloxi Beach.
