The largest city on the island, Fukuoka formed through the merger of two former cities that had grown up either side of the Naka River.
Kick off your visit on the 7th (Sun): get engrossed in the history at Fukuoka City Museum, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Nanzoin, take in the spiritual surroundings of Hakozaki-gu, then contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Tochoji Temple, and finally contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Kushida Shrine.

Turku, Finland to Fukuoka is an approximately 17-hour flight. The time zone changes from Eastern European Time (EET) to Japan Standard Time (JST), which is usually a 7 hour difference. Traveling from Turku in July, expect nights in Fukuoka to be much warmer, around 28°C, while days are somewhat warmer, around 36°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 7th (Sun) early enough to take a train to Kurashiki.

Kick off your visit on the 8th (Mon): get to know the fascinating history of Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarter, then take in the spiritual surroundings of Bicchukokubunji Temple, then contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Kibitsu Shrine, and finally take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Mt. Washu.

You can take a train from Fukuoka to Kurashiki in 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of flight and train; or drive. In July, daily temperatures in Kurashiki can reach 34°C, while at night they dip to 26°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 8th (Mon) early enough to take a train to Hiroshima.

The hilly port city of Nagasaki has become known internationally as one of the two Japanese cities to be destroyed by an atomic bomb towards the close of World War II.
On the 12th (Fri), contemplate the long history of Suwa Shrine, see the interesting displays at Nagasaki Peace Memorial Hall for the Atomic Bomb Victims, get engrossed in the history at Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Museum, then steep yourself in history at Glover House and Office, and finally admire the natural beauty at Glover Garden.

Traveling by train from Hiroshima to Nagasaki takes 3.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. In July in Nagasaki, expect temperatures between 36°C during the day and 29°C at night. Cap off your sightseeing on the 12th (Fri) early enough to travel back home.
