The most popular stop on the Trans-Siberian railway, Irkutsk gained fame as the cultural center of Decembrist exiles.
Deepen your sense of the past at sights like Cathedral of The Epiphany and Church of Our Lady of Kazan. Get a sense of the local culture at Cathedral of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God and Znamensky Monastery. Step out of Irkutsk to go to Angarsk and see Clock Museum, which is approximately 56 minutes away. The adventure continues: take an in-depth tour of Irkutsk Regional Historical and Memorial Museum of Decembrists, see the interesting displays at Church of the Savior of the Holy Face, pause for some serene contemplation at Harlampiyevskaya Archangel Michael Church, and admire the striking features of Triumphal Arch Moscow Gates.
