Established as the capital of Assam by the British, the hill station of Shillong today serves as the capital of Meghalaya, created in 1972.
Kick off your visit on the 15th (Sun): take in the dramatic scenery at Elephant Falls. On the 16th (Mon), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: examine the collection at Don Bosco Centre for Indigenous Cultures and then contemplate the waterfront views at Umiam Lake.
