A taste of Bavaria right in the heart of Georgia's "Historic High Country," Helen houses just 400 residents but hosts over 200 shops that sell everything from handmade sweaters to Christmas ornaments.

Hardman Farm and Folk Pottery Museum of NE Georgia will appeal to history buffs. Get outdoors at Dukes Creek Falls Trail and Toccoa Falls. Get out of town with these interesting Helen side-trips: Helton Creek Falls (in Blairsville) and 12 Spies Vineyards and Farm (in Rabun Gap). There's lots more to do: learn about winemaking at Habersham Vineyards & Winery, stop by Nora Mill Granary, contemplate the waterfront views at Chattahoochee River, and tour the pleasant surroundings at Yonah Mountain Campground.

Kissimmee to Helen is an approximately 6.5-hour combination of flight and car. You can also drive; or do a combination of bus and taxi. Expect a bit cooler temperatures when traveling from Kissimmee in November; daily highs in Helen reach 63°F and lows reach 44°F. On the 21st (Sun), wrap the sightseeing up by early afternoon so you can travel back home.
