Europe of India

South Indian spiritualism meets French chic in Pondicherry, an interesting, unusual, and international destination on the Bay of Bengal.
You've added Casablanca, Anokhi, Senteurs-Fleurs en Flacon, and other attractions to your itinerary. You'll discover tucked-away gems like Kriti Eco Boutique and Goubert Market. Get some cultural insight at Arulmigu Manakula Vinayagar Temple and Kalinka Art Gallery. There's more to do: pause for some photo ops at Saint Joan of Arc Statue.

Europe of India
A small coastal city and former French colony steeped in a history of trade and war, today the Union Territory of Puducherry (formerly Pondicherry) offers a tranquil trip to the past. French architecture, beaches, classical statues, an experimental 1960s harmony township, and an important ashram all make excellent additions to a Puducherry itinerary. A stretch of 18th-century colonial mansions along tree-lined boulevards displays unmistakable French influence, while other attractions include the city's 32 churches and an early 19th-century lighthouse. Puducherry's lower tax on alcoholic beverages makes it a popular weekend escape, and one of the most touristic destinations in South India. Try the steak and wine, served everywhere.
