Attractions like Oregon Coast Aquarium and Nye Beach make great kid-friendly stops. Explore Newport's surroundings by going to Yachats (Cape Perpetua Visitor Center - Siuslaw National Forest & Yachats coastline) and Lincoln City Glass Center (in Lincoln City). There's lots more to do: look for all kinds of wild species at Yaquina Head Outstanding Natural Area, take a leisurely stroll along Newport's Historic Bayfront, kick back and relax at Devils Punchbowl State Natural Area, and see majestic marine mammals with a dolphin and whale watching tour.

Drive from Seaside to Newport in 3 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus. Traveling from Seaside in July, things will get a bit cooler in Newport: highs are around 63°F and lows about 50°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 17th (Sat) to allow enough time to drive to Bandon.
