Aptly nicknamed the Eternal City, Rome is the birthplace of the Roman Empire, one of the world's greatest civilizations ever.
Start off your visit on the 2nd (Mon): pause for some serene contemplation at Basilica di San Pietro, then don't miss a visit to Trevi Fountain, then explore the ancient world of Palatine Hill, and finally delve into the distant past at Colosseum. On the 3rd (Tue), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: don't miss a visit to Piazza Navona, then admire the masterpieces at Vatican Museums, then admire the landmark architecture of Pantheon, and finally take in the spiritual surroundings of Chiesa di Sant'Ignazio di Loyola.

Considered a cultural, artistic, and architectural jewel of Italy, Florence is the birthplace of the Italian Renaissance.
Kick off your visit on the 4th (Wed): examine the collection at Galleria dell'Accademia, take in the architecture and atmosphere at Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, then see the interesting displays at Uffizi Gallery, and finally admire the striking features of Loggia dei Lanzi. On the 5th (Thu), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: take in the views from Ponte Vecchio, explore the world behind art at Pitti Palace, get great views at Piazzale Michelangelo, then appreciate the history behind Campanile di Giotto, and finally appreciate the extensive heritage of Piazza del Duomo.

Getting from Rome to Florence by train takes about 2 hours. Other options: drive; or fly. April in Florence sees daily highs of 66°F and lows of 47°F at night. Finish your sightseeing early on the 6th (Fri) so you can take a train to Venice.

Virtually unchanged for the last six centuries, Venice is actually a group of islands made famous by a series of canals, bridges, monuments, piazzas, and narrow pedestrian lanes.
Start off your visit on the 6th (Fri): take in the views from Ponte di Rialto, contemplate the waterfront views at Canal Grande, and then explore the world behind art at Gallerie dell'Accademia. On the 7th (Sat), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: admire the striking features of Scala Contarini del Bovolo, don't miss a visit to St. Mark's Square, then admire the striking features of Basilica di San Marco, and finally explore the galleries of Porta della Carta.

You can take a train from Florence to Venice in 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. In April, plan for daily highs up to 65°F, and evening lows to 48°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 7th (Sat) so you can travel back home.
