The capital of Lithuania, Vilnius, boasts an impressive medieval quarter--one of the continent's largest and a World Heritage Site with almost 2,000 historical buildings.
Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Bernardine Gardens and Ghost & Vampire Tours. Get out of town with these interesting Vilnius side-trips: Trakai (Trakai Island Castle Museum & Trakai History Museum). Treat yourself to a day of pampering on the 27th (Thu) at some of the best spas. There's much more to do: enjoy unforgettable views with a balloon tour, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Bernardine Church (Bernardinu Baznycia), see the interesting displays at KGB Museum (Genocido Auku Muziejus), and pause for some serene contemplation at Church of St. Theresa.

Brno, Czech Republic to Vilnius is an approximately 6.5-hour combination of train and flight. You can also drive; or take a train. Due to the time zone difference, you'll lose 1 hour traveling from Brno to Vilnius. Traveling from Brno in June, you will find days in Vilnius are slightly colder (24°C), and nights are about the same (12°C). Finish up your sightseeing early on the 4th (Thu) so you can go by car to Druskininkai.

The time zone changes from Eastern European Time (EET) to Moscow Standard Time (MSK), which is usually a 1 hour difference. Expect a daytime high around 27°C in July, and nighttime lows around 16°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 12th (Fri) to allow enough time to take a bus to Kaunas.

Situated between the Neris and Nemunas rivers, Kaunas is known for its old town, which, though smaller than the capital's, is in much better condition.
Discover out-of-the-way places like Ninth Fort and Cathedral of St. Peter and St. Paul. Change things up with these side-trips from Kaunas: Kedainiai Old Town (in Kedainiai), Panemunes Castle (in Pilis) and Gelgaudiskis Manor (in Gelgaudiskis). There's still lots to do: get engrossed in the history at Rumsiskes Open-Air Museum, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Christ's Resurrection Church, examine the collection at Sugihara House, and take in the architecture and atmosphere at Church of St. Michael the Archangel.
