Satisfy your inner culture vulture at Chateau de Beynac and Chateau de Campagne. Step out of the city life by going to Voie Verte et Veloroute and Grotte du Grand Roc. Venture out of the city with trips to Moulin de la Rouzique (in Couze-et-Saint-Front), Les Grottes de Maxange (in Le Buisson-de-Cadouin) and L'Abbaye de Saint-Avit-Senieur (in Saint-Avit-Senieur). Best known as a fortified town, Carcassonne is a walled city that provided the inspiration for the castle in Disney's "Sleeping Beauty" and the location for many scenes in Kevin Costner's movie "Robin Hood." For a daily dose of excitement, medieval jousting tournaments are held twice per day between the two walls--while this may sound like a typical touristy show, it's actually an entertaining display of combative competition and horsemanship.
Discover out-of-the-way places like Eglise Saint-Nazaire and Chateau Comtal. Escape the urban bustle at Gouffre Geant de Cabrespine and Lac de la Cavayere. Step out of Carcassonne to go to Brousses-et-Villaret and see Le Moulin à Papier de Brousses, which is approximately 30 minutes away.
