Tortuguero

One of Costa Rica's least accessible destinations, Tortuguero sits within an eponymous national park and remains accessible only by plane or boat.
Kick off your visit on the 27th (Tue): explore the wealth of natural beauty at Tortuguero National Park. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the 28th (Wed): examine the collection at Sea Turtle Conservancy and then paddle through the water with Tortuguero Adventures.

You can take a shuttle from San Jose to Tortuguero in 3.5 hours. In February in Tortuguero, expect temperatures between 79°F during the day and 65°F at night. On the 1st (Thu), you're off toCahuita.

With its dusty streets and simple (read affordable) lodgings, Cahuita bustles as a hub of backpacker tourism in southeastern Costa Rica.
Visiting Cahuita National Park and Playa Cocles will get you outdoors. Your itinerary includes some good beach time at Puerto Viejo Beach and Playa Chiquita. Take a break from Cahuita with a short trip to Nature Observatorio in Manzanillo, about 42 minutes away. There's more to do: identify plant and animal life at Gandoca - Manzanillo Wildlife Refuge and admire the natural beauty at Finca La Isla.

The rainforest meets the sea at Manuel Antonio National Park, a small but scenic natural preserve on the west coast of Costa Rica.
Your itinerary includes some good beach time at Playa Manuel Antonio and Playa Biesanz. Step out of the city life by going to MidWorld Costa Rica and Villa Vanilla / Rainforest Spices. Step out of Manuel Antonio with an excursion to Palo Seco Beach in Parrita--about 1h 05 min away. Spend the 8th (Thu) on the water with a fishing tour. A coastal getaway popular with surfers and young travelers, Santa Teresa spreads out from the beach and the main coastal road to a ring of newer developments on the surrounding hills.
