With a nickname like the "Pearl of the Orient," it's not surprising Shanghai offers some of the most rewarding attractions and activities in the Far East.
Shanghai is known for shopping, nightlife, and parks. Your trip includes some of its best attractions: go for a walk through The Bund (Wai Tan), enjoy breathtaking views from Oriental Pearl Tower (Dongfang Mingzhu), browse the different shops at South Bund Soft Spinning Material Market, and stop by Taikang Road.

The time zone changes from China Standard Time to Korean Standard Time, which is usually a 1 hour difference. Traveling from Shanghai in August, things will get little chillier in Seoul: highs are around 35°C and lows about 27°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 13th (Fri) so you can catch the flight to Kyoto.

Traveling from Seoul in August, you will find days in Kyoto are a bit warmer (39°C), and nights are about the same (29°C). Finish your sightseeing early on the 18th (Wed) so you can fly to Tokyo.
