Vernal, the county seat and largest city in Uintah County is in northeastern Utah, United States, about 175mi east of Salt Lake City and west of the Colorado border. Discover out-of-the-way places like Moonshine Arch and Sand Wash Basin. Get out of town with these interesting Vernal side-trips: Cub Creek Petroglyphs (in Jensen) and Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area (in Manila). There's still lots to do: learn more about the world around you at Utah Field House of Natural History State Park, explore the striking landscape of Dinosaur National Monument visitor center, explore the galleries of Quarry Exhibit Hall, and get engrossed in the history at Western Heritage Museum.
