The Samoan capital of Apia serves as the first port of call for most visitors, and it plays home to a number of historic sites, a laid-back seaside promenade, and a range of hotels and restaurants keeping tourists entertained.
Get a sense of the local culture at Immaculate Conception of Mary Cathedral and Robert Louis Stevenson Museum. Take a break from the city and head to Lalomanu Beach and Papaseea Sliding Rock. Step out of Apia with an excursion to To Sua Ocean Trench in Lotofaga--about 1h 5 min away. There's still lots to do: tour the pleasant surroundings at Piula Cave Pool, explore the activities along Palolo Deep Marine Reserve, shop like a local with Janet's Samoa, and pause for some serene contemplation at Baha'i House of Worship, Tiapapata, Samoa.
