Saint Louis — 5 nights

Gateway to the West

Test the local claim that Saint Louis is second only to Washington, D.C. in the number of free activities available by spending your holiday exploring the city's central neighborhoods, famous for their restored century-old red-brick buildings.
Visiting Pickle Springs Natural Area and World Bird Sanctuary will get you outdoors. You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Puzzle Warehouse and Hermann Wine Trail. Venture out of the city with trips to Hawn State Park (in Sainte Genevieve), Wood Hat Spirits Distillery (in New Florence) and Little Mary's River Covered Bridge (in Chester). There's much more to do: sample the fine beverages at Pinckney Bend Distillery, learn about winemaking at Robller Vineyard, get engrossed in the history at St. Louis Kaplan Feldman Holocaust Museum, and take a stroll through Soulard.

To see more things to do, where to stay, ratings, and other tourist information, you can read our Saint Louis day trip website.

In November, daily temperatures in Saint Louis can reach 56°F, while at night they dip to 35°F.
