— 5 nights
Explore Sassnitz's surroundings by going to Granitz Hunting Lodge (in Ostseebad Binz), Seebruecke Sellin (in Sellin) and St.-Marien-Kirche (in Bergen auf Ruegen). Spend the 12th (Thu) exploring nature at KONIGSSTUHL National Park Centre.

For reviews, other places to visit, ratings, and tourist information, read our Sassnitz driving holiday planning website.

Stuttgart to Sassnitz is an approximately 7.5-hour combination of flight, train, and taxi. You can also drive; or do a combination of car and train. Expect somewhat warmer evenings in Sassnitz when traveling from Stuttgart in August, with lows around 19°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 14th (Sat) to allow enough time to travel back home.

Riviera of the North
Germany's largest island, Rugen features 574 km (356.7 mi) of coastline. Originally a peaceful getaway, the island rose to popularity near the turn of the 20th century among upper-class Germans, including Otto von Bismarck. Though still popular as a vacation spot, the island is large enough that you'll have no problem finding a low-key corner of your own. Home to many resort towns and centers, Rugen residents and visitors partake in plenty of outdoor adventuring, such as horseback riding and yachting. Foodies will especially like the high-quality seafood in nearly every restaurant.
