Founded by the Spanish in 1521, San Juan is the oldest city under U.S. jurisdiction and one of the oldest in the Americas.
Start off your visit on the 1st (Thu): contemplate the long history of Catedral Basilica Menor de San Juan Bautista and then take in the exciting artwork at Walter Otero Contemporary Art. On the 2nd (Fri), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: appreciate the extensive heritage of Old San Juan and then appreciate the extensive heritage of Sitio Histórico de San Juan.

Ponce is both a city and a municipality in the southern part of Puerto Rico. Kick off your visit on the 3rd (Sat): get engrossed in the history at Museo de Arte de Ponce, explore the galleries of Museo Castillo Serralles, and then view the masterpieces at Centro Cultural Carmen Sola de Pereira de Ponce.

Drive from San Juan to Ponce in 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a shuttle. In July, plan for daily highs up to 86°F, and evening lows to 76°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 3rd (Sat) to allow enough time to travel to Isla de Vieques.

For sixty years until 2003, most of the Isla de Vieques was closed off to the public, with the US Navy using the island's beaches and surrounding waters for drills and testing of new military machinery, such as bombs.
On the 4th (Sun), stroll through Playa La Chiva and then enjoy the sand and surf at Playa Caracas. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the 5th (Mon): stop by Isla Vida, enjoy the sand and surf at Playa Navio, then delve into the distant past at El Hombre de Puerto Ferro, and finally find your balance on the water with some of the best stand-up paddleboarding in the area.

Traveling by combination of car and ferry from Ponce to Isla de Vieques takes 3.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of car, bus, taxi, and ferry; or do a combination of shuttle and flight. In July in Isla de Vieques, expect temperatures between 88°F during the day and 79°F at night. You will have some time to spend on the 6th (Tue) before leaving for home.
