An island town, capital of the landlocked region of Peten, attractive Flores features pleasant architecture that complements the shimmering appearance of the surrounding lake.
Start off your visit on the 24th (Sat): pause for some serene contemplation at Catedral de Flores, then explore the ancient world of Ruinas de Uaxactun, and then identify plant and animal life at Ixpanpajul Nature Park. Here are some ideas for day two: look for all kinds of wild species at Cerro Biotope Cahui.

Drive from Tikal National Park to Flores in 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a shuttle; or take a bus. Wrap up your sightseeing by early afternoon on the 25th (Sun) to allow enough time to travel to Antigua.

The former capital of Guatemala and a World Heritage Site, Antigua retains its colonial charm and remains one of the most visited destinations in the country.
Deepen your sense of the past at sights like Convento Santa Clara and Casa Popenoe. Step off the beaten path and head to National Museum of Archaeology and Ethnology and Antigua Tabaco Compania S.A.. Change things up with these side-trips from Antigua: Guatemala City (Museo Ixchel del Traje Indigena & Museo Popol Vuh). The adventure continues: get engrossed in the history at Casa del Jade, examine the collection at Museo Casa del Tejido, experience rural life at Valhalla Experimental Station, and soothe aching muscles at some of the top local wellness centers.
