Dunkirk is a commune in the Nord department in northern France. Kids will appreciate attractions like Plage de Malo-les-Bains and Cran d'Escalles. Musee Dunkerque 1940 - Operation Dynamo and Ambleteuse will appeal to museum buffs. Get out of town with these interesting Dunkirk side-trips: Nature & Wildlife Tours (in Le Crotoy), Calais (La Cite De La Dentelle Et De La Mode De Calais & Calais Wine Superstore) and Parc nature Baie de Canche (in Le Touquet – Paris-Plage). There's lots more to do: meet the residents at Parc Zoologique de Fort-Mardyck, take in the architecture and atmosphere at Chapelle des Marins, stroll around Parc Fort Louis, and kick back and relax at Plage de Gravelines.

If you are flying in from Romania, the closest major aiports are Charles de Gaulle International Airport, Lille-Lesquin Airport and Paris Beauvais Tillé Airport. In August, plan for daily highs up to 25°C, and evening lows to 15°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 31st (Mon) to allow time to travel back home.
