Denver

— 2 nights

Mile-High City

Aptly nicknamed the "Mile-High City," Denver sits at an altitude of 1,600 m (5,280 ft) above sea level, located right where the Great Plains give way to the Rocky Mountains.
Your day by day itinerary now includes Old Fall River Road, Trail Ridge Road and Denver Botanic Gardens. Kick off your visit on the 9th (Thu): steep yourself in history at Denver Union Station and then take in the exciting artwork at Denver Botanic Gardens. On the 10th (Fri), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: cruise along Trail Ridge Road and then cruise along Old Fall River Road.

To see maps, where to stay, other places to visit, and tourist information, read Denver itinerary planning app.

Chicago to Denver is an approximately 4.5-hour flight. You can also drive; or take a train. The time zone difference moving from Central Standard Time (CST) to Mountain Standard Time (MST) is minus 1 hour. Plan for little chillier nights when traveling from Chicago in September since evenings lows in Denver dip to 52°F. On the 11th (Sat), you'll have the morning to explore before heading off to Colorado Springs.
