A mere 32 km (20 mi) from Lisbon, the coastal town of Cascais has a long history of entertaining royals.

Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Marinhas de Sal and Primvs. Venture out of the city with trips to Nazare (Miradouro do Suberco, O Sitio, &more), Praia do Carvalhal (in Carvalhal) and Monastery of Alcobaca (in Alcobaca).
