Mbale is the type of town which many may pass on their way to the other parts of Uganda, but its low-rise buildings and bustling streets provide a glimpse into local daily life.
Take a break from the city and head to Sipi Falls and Tororo Rock. When in Mbale, make a side trip to see Sipi Falls hike in Kapchorwa, approximately 1h 35 min away. Spend the 22nd (Tue) exploring nature at Mount Elgon National Park. There's still lots to do: steep yourself in history at Nyero Rock Paintings.

The sleepy market town of Kabale in Western Uganda, although meagre in sights of its own, boasts close proximity to several national parks, just a couple of miles from the border with Rwanda.
Do some cultural sightseeing at Bugona Tree and All Saints Church. Get in touch with nature at Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. There's lots more to do: look for all kinds of wild species at Wildlife Areas, head outdoors with Lake Bunyonyi, and add some adventure to your tour with a kayaking and canoeing tour.

You can drive from Mbarara to Kabale in 2 hours. Another option is to take a bus. Traveling from Mbarara in February, things will get slightly colder in Kabale: highs are around 28°C and lows about 15°C. On the 24th (Sun), you'll travel back home.
