Founded by the Spanish in 1521, San Juan is the oldest city under U.S. jurisdiction and one of the oldest in the Americas.
Do some cultural sightseeing at Old San Juan and Parque de Bombas. Head to Depigment Art and Centro Cultural Carmen Sola de Pereira de Poncefor some retail therapy. Step out of San Juan with an excursion to Museo de Arte de Ponce in Ponce--about 1h 35 min away. There's still lots to do: enjoy the sand and surf at Condado Beach, stop by Ole Puerto Rico, view the masterpieces at Walter Otero Contemporary Art, and get some fabulous bargains at Coach Outlet Store.
