Niamey — 4 nights

The capital and largest city of Niger, Niamey serves as an administrative, cultural, and economic center on the Niger River.
You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Koure Giraffe Reserve and Koure Reserve. There's lots more to do: explore the galleries of National Museum of Niger (Musee National du Niger), take in the spiritual surroundings of Niamey Grand Mosque, hunt for treasures at Grand Marche, and stroll through Ferme Youyou.

To see more things to do, reviews, maps, and more tourist information, use the Niamey trip itinerary app.

River of Song
Much of Niger consists of untouched landscapes, dotted here and there with old caravan towns and abandoned medieval settlements. The mountains of the north and the dunes of the center and south hold a captivating, enigmatic atmosphere, made even more memorable by the mud-brick architecture of the market towns developed over the centuries. Most visitors on vacation in Niger head to the southwest, where an abundance of protected areas rich in wildlife, some of the most scenic views of the Niger River, and the country's capital just beg to be explored.
