Nicoya, a city on the Nicoya Peninsula of the Guanacaste province, Costa Rica, is one of the country's most important tourist zones; it serves as a transport hub to Guanacaste's beaches and national parks. Visiting San Juanillo Beach and Nosara Refuge for Wildlife will get you outdoors. Step off the beaten path and head to Zipline and Iglesia Catolica de Playas del Coco. Change things up with these side-trips from Nicoya: Nosara (Nosara Wildlife Sanctuary at Sibu & Nosara Beach (Playa Guiones)) and The Ara Project (in Punta Islita). Spend the 30th (Tue) exploring nature at Barra Honda National Park. The adventure continues: look for gifts at Casa de Arte, Curime.

If you are flying in from United States, the closest major airports are Daniel Oduber Quiros International Airport, Juan Santamaria International Airport and Tobias Bolanos International Airport. Expect a daytime high around 93°F in May, and nighttime lows around 73°F. Cap off your sightseeing on the 2nd (Fri) early enough to travel back home.
